A+GPB CA-AP107 Medium ATX Case

For those computer enthusiasts who decide to build their own PC, selecting the right case can be a huge undertaking. There are so many designs available in various shapes, colors, and materials. With the growing popularity of modding, manufacturers like A+GPB have begun making pre-modded cases which feature transparent panels and lights. The CA-AP107 Medium ATX Case is their latest contribution.

The A+GPB CA-AP107 Medium ATX Case is silver, its exterior composed of steel. The front panel is decorated with an 1/8″ sheet of clear Plexiglas held in by 6 visible chrome bolts. The Plexiglas makes the steel chassis visible while giving the case a more “finished” look. Similar bolts adorn each of the CD/DVD bays. Four blue LEDs light up indented areas which resemble chrome exhaust vents. The power button is composed of translucent plastic which allows a blue LED to shine through. A 400-watt power supply comes pre-installed inside.

A standard X-shape, popular on many pre-modded cases today, decorates the side panel of the CA-AP107 Case. A multicolor LED fan sits in the center of the “X”. Both side panels can be easily removed during installation. The case contains spaces for two additional 80 mm case fans on the rear panel. The Plexiglas side panel allows you to see many of the internal components.

The A+GPB CA-AP107 Medium ATX Case features 4 internal 3.5″ slots, 2 external 3.5″ floppy drive slots, and 4 external 5.25″ CD/DVD drive slots. The covers which match the front of the case can be easily popped off to accommodate however many drives you wish to install. One of the nice extras on this case is the numbered screw holes on the drive slots. This feature makes it easy to ensure that all drives line up perfectly. Four plastic pegs attach to the base and allow you to easily slide the case on a flat surface.

A small door near the base slides off to reveal useful goodies such as USB slots, headphone /microphone jacks, and a switch to activate the 4 blue LEDs which light up the front panel. There also appears to be an optional slot for firewire devices. All front panel features require that the motherboard & sound card you install have the appropriate pin connectors available. If they do not, you will not be able to use these features.

Overall the A+GPB CA-AP107 Medium ATX Case was a delight to work with. It was engineered with several common-sense features that make it a pleasure to use. The case looks incredible with its multicolor LED fan, blue LED “vents”, and chrome detail. Available for less than $60 from online retailer NewEgg.com, this case is a steal.
